CLASSES AND CAMPS
DISCOVERING ART: Grades k-3
The primary goal of these sessions is to motivate the child to appreciate the arts through a wide variety of studio activities (drawing, painting, constructing, printmaking, and mixed media), art appreciation games, and discussions about art. The activities of art making; conceiving an idea, assembling, organizing, and working with the materials, give students a concrete way to apply and share knowledge as they discover more about the world of art.
DRAWING, PAINTING and MIXED MEDIA: Grades 3-8, 6-12
Drawing and painting are the first steps in translating an idea into concrete visual terms. In these art sessions, you will explore linear, tonal, color, abstract and realistic art through drawing, painting and mixed media exercises. Discover the different qualities of graphite, charcoal, pen and ink, tempera, acrylic, collage and watercolor and mixed media techniques. Learn to draw and paint forms from nature, interiors, manmade objects, the human figure, nonobjective and imaginary images.
ART METHODS
This class is a great way to develop skills in a variety of art techniques. Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media and Creative Bookbinding techniques and concepts will all be explored. Discover the different qualities of graphite, charcoal, pen and ink, acrylic, collage, watercolor and mixed media techniques. Learn to draw and paint forms from nature, interiors, manmade objects, the human figure, nonobjective and imaginary images.
DRAW-A-THON: Grades 4-8, 6-12
In this intensive drawing marathon, campers will explore a variety of drawing approaches and develop their technical and conceptual skills while realizing their own unique personal vision. Fundamentals of drawing and concentration on the elements and principles of design, line, proportion, and composition will be explored. Each session will incorporate a different drawing technique and skill.
PORTFOLIO BUILDING: Grades 7-12
This Portfolio Building class is designed to help students develop a strong foundation of skills as they build a portfolio suitable for college admission. Participants will experiment with a variety of techniques, media and processes. They will explore a range of styles and themes that highlight their individual artistic strengths and passions. The aim is to help each student exhibit his/her skill and experiences, creative ideas and artistic vision.
